- Is Asphalt Paving the only work that The Allen Company, Inc performs?
No, we also perform excavation, utility work, and concrete work. We have the ability to take an undisturbed site and construct it up to the build pad with our own crews.
- Are fumes from blacktop hazardous?
No, many recent studies performed both in the United States and Europe have concluded that fumes associated with blacktop are not hazardous or cancer causing.
- Are underground Limestone Quarries/Mines similar to Coal Mines?
No, they are completely different. The underground mines that we own and operate typically have 50’ wide tunnels/roads with ceilings ranging from 28’ to 100’ tall ceilings.
- What is the difference between Hot Mix and Warm Mix Asphalt?
Hot Mix asphalt is mixture of stone, sand and liquid asphalt that is produced at a temperature of approximately 315 to 340 Degrees. Warm Mix Asphalt uses the same mixture of stone, sand, and liquid asphalt, but the asphalt is mixed with water allowing it to be produced at a temperature between 250 to 275 Degrees. The decreased temperature reduces fumes both at the plant and construction site, reduces the smell associated with blacktop, and creates better working conditions for our workers without sacrificing any quality or durability.
- Are The Allen Company, Inc. and ATS Construction the same company?
NO, we are two different companies with different ownership that happen to be located in the same building.
- Does The Allen Company, Inc. perform design work for construction projects?
No, we have not and are not currently planning to become design engineers. We will provide advice or general ideas regarding possible construction projects, but are not equipped to create and stamp design plans. We do have good working relationships with many local design firms that we can recommend upon request
